The National Science and Technology Forum (NSTF) will be hosting a Discussion Forum on plant health in South Africa – threats to biosecurity, biodiversity and food security. The event will be held on Zoom, on 10 and 11 June 2021.

Topics include detecting and controlling plant health problems, research into pests and pathogens, chemicals versus biological control, and the role of breeding and technology for resistance. There will also be discussion on government regulations for the importing of plants.

The keynote address will be by Prof Michael Wingfield of the University of Pretoria, who received the prestigious 2019/2020 NSTF-South32 Special Annual Theme Award for an outstanding contribution to science, engineering, technology and innovation in Plant Health.
