Qualifications: BSc. Biological Science, Zoology Honours (Walter Sisulu University); Master of Science Zoology (Rhodes University)
Q: What inspired you to make this career choice?
A: To be honest, I never thought of a BSc. Degree. I applied at Walter Sisulu University and the programme I wanted to pursue that time was full. The administration team looked at my Grade 12 marks and said: “you qualify to do BSc. Chemistry or Biological science”. I did not have much of a choice. I chose Biology because I was familiar with the term back in high school. As the years went by, I got fascinated by the marine side of biology. So, after my undergraduate degree, I did an internship which motivated me to do my honours and Master’s degree. In moving from one internship to the next, I got consumed by the collection facility.
