Hey! Have you been wondering about the Forum? Is it happening, is it not? When? Where?

Well, wonder no more!

Yes, the Forum is happening, and again, it will be virtual. So, no need to pack your bags and leave your beautiful home for a week. You just need to sit infront of your computer or phone, and connect with colleagues from all over Mzansi.

Our previous forums have proven indispensable for community building in the natural science collections network, galvanizing the community around shared goals and solutions to shared challenges. This year’s Forum will be no different.

This year’s Forum will focus on the planned assessments of natural science collections. The facilitated self-assessment process is aimed at providing support for the future of natural science collections in South Africa, but also for transformation, building staff capacity, and creating a collaborative learning and vibrant environment that will ensure sustainability.

Forum activities will  include:

  • Reflecting and sharing successes and challenges in the implementation of the Collections Management & Curation Manual and associated course.
  • An introduction and induction into the  upcoming facilitated self-assessments of natural science collections.
  • Further refinement and collective design of the assessments.
  • Development of young leaders in managing and caring for our collections and in research that depends on the collections.
