Q: What inspired you to make this career choice?
A: At a university open day, I found the botany booth and the information given at that booth felt like a natural fit for what I wanted to do with my life.
Q: Give a brief description of what your job entails.
A: A large part of my job is conducting research, publishing this work in popular and journal articles and presenting this work at conferences, workshops, etc. I also identify and curate plant specimens from designated families.
Q: How does it contribute to Collections Management?
A: One of the ways my job contributes to Collections Management is to correctly curate and identify specimens in specific families within the collection.
Q: What is the most exciting aspect of your job?
A: Everyday has the potential to be different from the previous day with regards to personal interactions, work priorities and personal growth.
Q: What advice would you give to young people considering a career within Scientific Collections Management?
A: Identify the requirements for entering this career path and understand that your passion for nature will be your driving force.
